J. Russell Robinson (b. July 8, 1892 – d. September 30, 1963, Palmdale, California, USA) worked as a teen playing piano to silent movies, toured the southern US in the 1910s with his brother John, joined the Original Dixieland Jass Band in 1919, accompanied singers such as Lizzie Miles and Lucille Hegamin in the 1920s, became the head of NBC Radio’s music department in the 1930s, and reunited with the Original Dixieland Jass Band, now dubbed the Original Dixieland Five in 1936.
