Joseph Lamb (b. December 6, 1887, Montclair, New Jersey, USA – d. September 3, 1960, Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA) was one of the “fathers of ragtime,” along with Scott Joplin and Joseph Lamb. In 1908, he met Scott Joplin in the offices of the John Stark & Son, who recommended his “Sensation Rag” to the publisher. Lamb published eleven more rags with John Stark & Son and went on to publish others for J. Fred Helf Music Company. He worked as an accountant from 1914 until rediscovered by the musical historian Rudi Blesh and Harriet Janis in the 1940s, after which he composed and performed again.
